Our furry friends are welcomed at Accurx. Research has shown that dogs in the workplace not only contribute to a fun and playful work environment but can have a positive impact on AccuFolk`s mental health and wellbeing.

That being said, Spot and Fido didn't go through our interview process! The comfort of our fellow AccuFolk takes priority, and we need to be mindful to put people before paws when colleagues are allergic, frightened or distracted.

Before you bring your dog to work, please read this policy carefully so you know what's required of you as a dog owner and complete an **a-paw-lication form ⬅️**

Paws for thought 🤔

Be considerate of your colleagues, and before you bring your dog check with your Manager, team members and neighbours. You never know who might have severe concerns like allergies, mobility issues, or fears, so have that conversation before sending in your a-paw-lication.

No paws zones ⛔

Some places are for humans only. Dogs are not allowed in:

It is especially important that they do not go into the meditation and prayer room as this can make it an unsuitable place for prayer to take place. Equally, we need to ensure they’re kept out of the commercial kitchen, otherwise it could put our food licence at risk which would mean no more delicious lunches 😋

<aside> 📌 As we move into Phase 2 of the Office Move, we will also look at putting in dog-free zones with hot desks for those who want it.

Emergency evacuation 🚨

Dogs should remain with owners at all times, and be taken out of the building in case of an evacuation. Smaller dogs should be carried down the stairs by their owners.

Keep spot supervised 👀

Please keep your pup on a lead. This will help accuFolk who are frightened of dogs to feel safer, and to ensure your dog doesn’t pop their nose into any no-paw-zones. If you need to step away, please make sure you find an appropriate dog-sitter (I’m sure you will have no trouble finding a volunteer 🙋)

You’re welcome to let them off if you’re in an enclosed space like a meeting room if everyone present is comfortable and gives consent. If you aren't sure, it might be worth popping people a message on slack in advance so they don't feel pressured in the moment.
