50 years ago, healthcare was delivered by individuals - typically doctors who would treat, prescribe, diagnose and do home visits.

Since then, medicine has become far more complex, and it is now delivered by teams. Those teams span numerous organisations, and their ability to deliver great care depends on their ability to communicate with each other.

Ask anyone on the health service front line what they did at work today, and it will probably involve making referrals, getting a second opinion, coordinating care and getting a message to a patient. We want to make it easy for healthcare staff to communicate with patients and to communicate with each other.
