Why is a diverse and inclusive workplace important for Accurx?

Accurx exists to bring patients and their healthcare teams together -  to make patients healthier, staff happier, and the health system more efficient.

Our vision is that everyone involved in a patient's care, including the patient themselves, can communicate with each other. Everyone’s a patient, which means the entire UK population can, and we hope will, benefit from our products 🤗

We believe that to serve all patients we need to have an understanding and appreciation for different experiences. Our team needs to encourage the right conversations and challenge how our products work and who they work for. We need to be able to think about problems from various angles and incorporate that thinking into our product development process. Not only do we build a product for a diverse patient audience, the healthcare workforce across the whole of the NHS  is more diverse today than in its 75 year history.

We believe that achieving our mission will be greatly helped by having a diverse team. A diverse team is what will ensure that different experiences and situations are taken into account and through that we are more likely to achieve both our mission and business success.

How do we create a diverse team at Accurx?

Diversity starts with hiring. We continuously review our application and interview process, take feedback from existing employees and candidates to ensure an inclusive, stress free and even enjoyable process! We will always try our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments.

We are an equal opportunities employer and a supportive place to work. We particularly welcome applications from those who are underrepresented in the technology sector, such as women, non-binary people, transgender people, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ community and individuals from Black and Minority ethnic communities.

However, hiring a diverse team is not enough. We actively work on fostering  an inclusive working environment where all AccuFolk have a strong sense of belonging. We prioritise building psychological safety so everyone regardless of how they identify can challenge and bring their opinions to the table.

We believe in a world where everyone is free to be themselves and can live their lives to the full.  Inclusive workplaces have a huge part to play in making this world a reality.

We recognise the NHS equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) improvement plan and commit to supporting the NHS in the delivery of this through delivery of our own DEIB strategy and objectives.

Our Approach:

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) at Acurrx is centred around three necessary pillars; Education, Awareness & Adoption.

We educate our employees  so that they develop new skills and insights, enabling them to make fairer decisions, take equitable action and build psychological safety.

We raise awareness so that Accufolk understand how their colleagues may experience the workplace and health system differently to themselves. Awareness helps us be more mindful of how we can create an inclusive environment for all.

We ensure adoption of processes, policies and new ways of working so that the change we make has long lasting effectives. Adoption enables the changes we make to be scalable and ensures all employees have the same opportunities.****

The work we do and execute will always be tied to at least one of these pillars.
